About Streamlyy
Streamlyy is an independent publication covering streaming devices, VPNs, and cord-cutting. We aim to give straightforward, practical recommendations rather than marketing copy, and to be clear about what each recommendation is actually based on.
Who writes Streamlyy
Streamlyy is written and edited by the Streamlyy Editorial Team — a small group with backgrounds in home networking and consumer technology. Rather than attributing posts to invented individual bylines, we publish under a single editorial identity and stand behind everything on the site collectively. Every article carries a publication date, and articles we revise carry a visible updated date so you can see how current the advice is.
How we research what we publish
Our coverage falls into three groups, and they're researched differently:
- Troubleshooting guides are built from documented device behaviour, manufacturer support material, and the failure patterns that come up repeatedly across user reports. Where a fix depends on a specific menu path, we name it.
- Comparisons and explainers are based on published specifications, platform documentation, and how the underlying technology actually works — the physics of a Wi-Fi signal or the mechanics of a VPN tunnel don't change with the news cycle.
- Device reviews are buying guidance built on published specifications, platform capabilities, connectivity, and how a device compares to its alternatives. Where we haven't independently bench-tested a product, we don't present numbers as if we had.
What we won't do
- Accept payment for a positive review or a placement in a recommendation list
- Present manufacturer marketing claims as though we had verified them ourselves
- Invent test results, benchmark figures, or hands-on impressions
- Recommend a product we'd tell a friend to skip
We'd rather publish a shorter piece that's accurate than a longer one padded with specifics we can't stand behind.
Corrections
Technology coverage ages, and some of it ages badly — firmware changes, apps drop support, and providers change their terms. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll correct it. Corrections to substantive errors are reflected in the article's updated date rather than made silently.
How Streamlyy is funded
Streamlyy plans to be supported by advertising and, in the future, affiliate commissions. Where affiliate links are present, they'll never influence which products we recommend or how we rate them, and we'll disclose them clearly — see our Affiliate Disclosure for details. We don't accept sponsored posts, and no manufacturer reviews our coverage before it's published.
What we cover
Device reviews (streaming sticks, boxes, and media players), VPN guides and comparisons, head-to-head product comparisons, and troubleshooting guides for common streaming problems. You can browse everything on the blog.
